Kate Debbo

Kate Debbo’s paintings are textural and sensuous and the interplay between the pieces speaks of her desire to understand the connectedness to one another, the world and beyond.

"We are the landscape, the architecture, the structures and all the abstract elements around us. It is an amalgamation of the universal worlds of nature and human dynamics. These (works) are my thoughts and activity made visible, the so - called ‘pages’ of my personal book that mark my bodily experiences."

Kates works often begin from a clear compositional starting point but flow to a completely new place, sometimes completely obliterating the arrangement (her favourite part!) where sneaky bits of history are always left behind. Constantly fascinated with the fresh and innocent approach children have to their artwork, these works uncover Kate’s weightlessness in being, her soft playfulness along with her own innocence.

Kate has been selected as a finalist in the 2019 Busselton Art Award and was also a finlalist in the 2018 Perth Royal Art Award.
